Academy COVID-19 Information
The Academy of Movement and Music follows the regulations and procedures mandated by the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Cook County Department of Public Health, and the Village of Oak Park Heath Department. Because the Academy is located within the Village of Oak Park, which has its own Health Department, the Academy must adhere to mandates issued by the Village of Oak Park where those mandates differ from those of the county and state.

Masking
In conjunction with Village mandates, the Academy is currently exercising a mask-optional policy with the following exceptions:
-
Students, staff, and visiting parents of our A.R.T.S. program are required to wear a mask through the end of the 2021-22 school year. The mask policy will be re-evaluated based on pandemic conditions for the Summer 2022 program and the Fall 2022-23 program.
-
Students, staff, and visiting parents of our Introduction to Ballet levels 1-3 are required to wear a mask through the end of the 2021-22 school year. As with our A.R.T.S. program, the mask policy will be re-evaluated based on pandemic conditions for the Summer 2022 program and the Fall 2022-23 program.
-
Masks will be required for attendees of Academy in-person performances. We are excited to hold in-person events at the Academy once again, but because our performance venue is not a large space, masking will be required in an effort to protect one another.

Hygiene
The Academy follows these procedures for individuals and the indoor environment to reduce the spread of infection:
-
Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building. Students and staff should use hand sanitizer upon entry and periodically during their time here.
-
Eating inside the building is not permitted at this time.
-
Individuals should wash their hands with soap and water following use of the restroom.
-
The Academy has installed a water bottle filler so that students can more safely maintain hydration. Student should bring their own water bottle to classes. Disposable cups will be provided as a last resort.
-
High-touch surfaces are sanitized between uses.
-
Rooms are aired-out between classes and fans and open windows (weather permitting) are used to increase clean air exchange.
Quarantine and isolation guidelines
The Academy will stay current on quarantine and isolation guidelines issued by the CDC and will follow guidelines adopted by our local governing health departments.
-
Any individual who tests positive for Covid-19, regardless of vaccine status, should isolate for 5 days following the date that symptoms first appeared, or following the date of the positive test result if no symptoms are present.
-
Any individual who is a close contact of a positive case of Covid-19 and is fully vaccinated does not need to quarantine, but must be masked around others for 10 days and should be tested approximately 5 days after the date of contact – or immediately if symptoms arise.
-
Any individual who is a close contact of a positive case of Covid-19 and is NOT fully vaccinated should quarantine at home for 5 days following the contact, must be masked around others for 5 additional days, and should be tested approximately 5 days after the date of contact – or immediately if symptoms arise.
